It’s amazing the things you can have delivered to your door these days–food, toilet paper, and in many states, cannabis. This week on 1st time I Bought Legal Weed Jamie Evans, founder of The Herb Somm, shares her story of purchasing weed for the first time via delivery.
Did you know that 3 out of 4 women in the U.S. have access to legal cannabis? This series is dedicated to women sharing their stories and empowering your own experiences buying cannabis.

Jamie Evans (00:48):
If you haven’t heard of The Herb Somm before, I’m probably best known for my cannabis dining events and wine and weed experiences, but I’m also the author of two published books. The Ultimate Guide to CBD and most recently Cannabis Drinks, Secrets to Crafting CBD and THC Beverages at Home, which released in April of 2020.
Jamie Evans (01:11):
Alongside my work in the cannabis space, I’m a certified specialist of wine, a French wine scholar with over a decade of wine industry experience. And most recent this holiday season, I’m excited to introduce my brand new cannabis beverage brand Herbacée, which is the nation’s first non-alcoholic cannabis-infused sparkling wine that honors French inspired wine blends.
Jamie Evans (01:37):
So today I’m so excited to speak with How to Do the Pot on my time that I bought legal weed. So this was probably back in 2017, right before I was going to launch my blog, The Herb Somm. I just remember delivery was coming online at this time, and I just thought it was so cool, never in a million years would I ever think that cannabis could be delivered to your front door.
Jamie Evans (02:09):
So I was extremely excited about this, and so I went and got my medical card. And this was before California legalized recreational cannabis, so I did have to get my medical card. And I remember, I think it wasn’t even Zoom. I did some sort of video chat with a doctor and was approved for medical cannabis.
Jamie Evans (02:33):
So right after this happened, I don’t even remember what delivery service I used, but I found maybe one of the only ones that could deliver to Sausalito during that time. And I selected, I remember the strain too. I actually ordered some Cannatonic, which is a CBD-rich cannabis strain to enjoy as well as a few other products.
Jamie Evans (02:56):
But as soon as that delivery car arrived, I went out and met my driver. And I just remember feeling the sense of excitement of where the industry was going. And I really saw the potential of cannabis and how it can improve so many different lives.
Jamie Evans (03:15):
So as soon as I got my package from the delivery driver, I went back up to my house, and I rolled up a joint with my husband. And we were walking just around the streets of Sausalito and enjoying that beautiful Cannatonic flower.
Jamie Evans (03:34):
So this is a memory that I will always cherish, which was the first time I bought legal weed. And it was pretty amazing because it was a delivery service. Anyways, I hope you all have a great story as well.
Jamie Evans (03:51):
And to learn more about what I do and to explore some of the recipes that I make or learn more about Herbacée, which is my cannabis-infused wine, please follow me at The Herb Somm. Thanks so much for the opportunity and hope to see you all soon. Cheers.
