Joyce Gerber (00:35):

First time I bought cannabis in a legal dispensary was in 2016 on the same trip where I had my cannabis awakening. It was the night before we did our trip with Goldie Solodar of City Sessions, and my husband and I were walking around the streets of Denver, trying to find some place to buy some cannabis. We found a store that had a green cross, which we assume meant cannabis dispensary, and we went into it. I think it was downstairs. I remember it being kind of dark. And for some reason I did not have my ID with me. So I couldn’t go into the secret space where all the cannabis was held. So my husband went in, and I sat out in the waiting room, and I watched the people come and go. And it was very nice and there were some magazines and just a regular waiting room.

Joyce Gerber (01:29):

And then about maybe 10 or 15 minutes later, my husband emerged from the secret room and he had a little bag. And in the bag he had a dugout. He bought like a one-hitter and a lighter. And he had purchased a strain called Biochem. And he said the reason he purchased this is because the guy told him it would get him really high.

Joyce Gerber (01:56):

So we took that. I think it was three and a half grams, an eighth, back to our hotel room. It was a non-smoking hotel room, but we did each take a few hits off of that one-hitter. And I don’t know if it was because it was really strong or if it was because we were really dehydrated, but I just remember it made us really loopy. And then we walked around the streets of Denver and there were all these Colorado flags, and we went to dinner and it felt a little psychedelic and I felt kind of off and loopy. And when we got back to the hotel room, I remember telling my husband that I would never smoke Biochem again. And that is the first time I bought legal cannabis.
