What’s in season right now in California? Potli, one of my favorite women led edible brands, brings California’s micro seasons to life in every chew. Its founder draws inspiration from her magical Bay Area garden, where Meyer lemons and blood oranges capture the bright energy of winter. She calls it storing sunshine, blending timeless traditions with a modern twist.

Try Potli’s Trio Starter Kit, delicious gummies crafted for sleep, play, and every day. Potli goodies ship all across the country and get 20 percent off with promo code DOTHEPOT at getpotli. com.

Welcome to How to Do the [00:01:00] Pot. The award winning podcast that helps you feel confident about cannabis. I’m your host, Ellen Scanlon.

I’m not usually a big new year’s resolution person. I do like to take some time at the beginning of the year to reflect and plan and set goals for myself. 2025 has started off strong. a little too strong. And I want to bring in some softness, some ease. Maybe you feel that too. Lately, I’ve been thinking about how to make more time for the basic things that make me feel good.

Last fall, I had the incredible thrill of meeting Gretchen Rubin, the host of one of my All time favorite podcast, Happier with Gretchen Rubin. I met her at the Masters of Scale conference in San Francisco. One of [00:02:00] Gretchen’s signature ideas is to design your year. This year, she’s encouraging people to read for 25 minutes a day in 2025.

I love to read and I read a lot, so that one’s actually not that hard for me. Something I have been neglecting, something I love and yet never seem to make time for, is watching movies. I keep a very long list of movies and TV shows that I want to watch in the Notes app in my phone. When I watch one, I check it off with that satisfying little green check emoji.

Last year, I only watched seven movies. That’s not even one a month. So inspired by Gretchen Rubin, I have decided to challenge myself to watch 25 movies in 2025. I would love your help. Over the next few months, I’ll share some of the movies I’m watching, [00:03:00] and I want to hear about your favorite films too.

My biggest issue is that I don’t make the time to sit down and watch. I’m really going to try, especially now that I’ve made this a public challenge to myself. Have you signed up for my Substack newsletter yet? I share podcast highlights, inspiring stories, exclusive cannabis discounts, and my favorite personal recommendations.

Recently, I was featured in Sophia is Voracious, a fun substack by New York based writer Sophia Ronsky, who loves hosting dinner parties. She noticed a trend, more guests saying, yes, I’d love to come, but is it okay if I’m not drinking? Sophia reached out to me for tips on throwing a weed friendly party.

I’ll link to it in the show notes if you want to check it out. Now with Substack, if you are one of our 10, 000 plus newsletter readers, you can choose to [00:04:00] upgrade to a paid subscription and directly support the show and our work. The first movie I watched this year is called You, Me, and Her. It’s an independent film written, produced, and starring Selina Ringel, and it’s directed by her husband, Dan Levy Dogerman. The story follows a long married couple with a young child as they go on their first vacation without their kid, a trip to Mexico.

They meet a woman during the trip who sparks a deep connection with both of them. Her presence in their lives exposes some cracks in their relationship, feelings of loneliness, being [00:05:00] unappreciated, and questioning the direction of their lives. You, me, and her dives into the complexities of being in a relationship as a woman, a parent, and a partner.

And yes, it asks the question, can opening your marriage save your relationship?

As a special Valentine’s Day treat for our listeners, How to Do the Pot is partnering with beloved cannabis edibles brand Potly to celebrate the premiere of You, Me, and Her with an ultimate date night giveaway. Here’s what you could win. Two tickets to the premiere of You, Me Her. A luxurious Ultimate Date Night box worth over 500 including Potley Trio Chews for that perfect balance of bliss.

Goodies from the pleasure chest, a little spicy. Mood setting candles by Ryan Porter. A handcrafted bracelet. Be the Train, a [00:06:00] book about filmmaking by Selena Ringel. Lindt chocolate, German cookies, and more. Plus you’ll automatically be entered to win a fabulous trip to Mexico. Here’s how you do it. Click the link in the show notes and enter your email, follow get potly and do the pot on Instagram and tag your friends for extra chances to win.

The winner will be announced on Monday, February 10th at 8am Pacific time. Good luck. Here’s a sneak peek of you, me, and her to get you excited. How was the rest of your Mexico trip? Did you have the threesome you guys wanted? So you’re all packed. Can you just stop?

You, Me & Her: That hot bitch is going to dump your ass, son.

Welcome home. We’ve always congratulated you when you’ve been together for like a really long time. But that doesn’t mean that you’ve been like happily together. So have you always been attracted to women? Oh, is it okay if I say I am? You want to join [00:07:00] him? Or should we leave him hanging?

We should go out.

Ellen Scanlon: So if you are over 21, love free goodies, trips to Mexico, and supporting independent films, don’t miss this chance. Check the link in the show notes for full terms and conditions and enter now. Thank you for listening, and I hope this giveaway adds some fun to your Valentine’s Day.
